How to Run a Gleaning Day

The key steps of organising a gleaning day!

A farmer has surplus produce ready to be gleaned

Pencil in a date for the day

Organise a beneficiary to take the surplus

Lock in a date with farmer and beneficiary

Reach out to volunteer base and organise transport logistics

Source necessary harvesting and storage equipment

Run the glean! (making sure the harvest is not damaged or low quality)

Calculate how much food was harvested

Ensure produce reaches beneficiary

Send thank you email to farmer and vols (with pictures of the day)

Log your gleaning day on the online form

Congratulations, you have organised your first gleaning day!
